Do you know a young person in Slough whose contribution to the community inspires you and deserves recognition? Now’s the time to speak up.
The Slough Youth Awards are returning to The Curve on Thursday 8 November to celebrate and recognise the massive contributions young people make to the Slough community.
Nominations open today (Monday 2 July) for young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 with learning difficulties or disabilities) who live in Slough. Groups can also be nominated.
Young people can be nominated in one of six categories: young artist, young environmentalist, young inspiration, young entrepreneur, young sportsperson and young volunteer of the year (in partnership with Slough Voluntary sector Awards).
Councillor Shabnum Sadiq, cabinet member for children and education, said: “I am in awe of the many young people I meet everyday who are driving positive change across the borough.
“The Slough Youth Awards are the perfect way to recognise and celebrate these individuals’ dedication and commitment to the community.
“If someone you know has contributed in helping to make Slough a better place, I implore you to nominate that young person or group for an award; to ensure they receive the wider recognition their achievements deserve.”
The awards are supported by Slough Borough Council’s Young People’s Service, Slough Youth Parliament, Slough CVS and are sponsored by Arvato UK and Ireland, Heathrow, John Crane UK Ltd, Mars Wrigley Confectionery UK and Kooth.com.
The awards arose from the Youth Parliament’s manifesto commitment to raise the profile of young people in a positive way by celebrating their many achievements.
The Slough Youth Awards will also include performances showcasing the amazing talent of local young people.
