Computers and the Internet

Computers at Langley Library Anyone can use the computers in each of Slough’s libraries for up to two hours a day absolutely free. You just need your library card and PIN (please ask if you are not sure what this is). You need to be a member of the library to use our computers. It's quick and easy, and you do not need proof of identity to join.

Under 16s

Under 16s must have an internet use consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian and if you are under 8, a parent or guardian needs to be present whilst you are using the computer.

USB memory sticks

On all computers in Slough, Langley, Cippenham and Britwell libraries you can use your USB memory sticks.


At Wexham, Slough, Langley, Cippenham, Colnbrook and Britwell libraries you can use your own laptop or other web device to access the internet free of charge via Slough Libraries’ wifi - just connect!

Reservations and requests

Reservations from Slough Libraries stock

  • Adult books (including 14+, audio books)         50p (non refundable)
    If not in stock, you can ask the library to try and borrow from another partner authority
    via interlibrary loan scheme (SELMS)               £3 (non refundable)
  • Children's books (for children under 14)     
    If in stock, up to 2 FREE per visit,
    thereafter 25p each
  • E-books and e-audiobooks         FREE

Overdue charges

If items are not returned or renewed by their due date they will incur overdue charges.

  • Adult books (including 14+ stock)
    £0.15 for each day the issuing library is open. 
    These charges are capped at a maximum of £5 per item.  
  • Children's books
    For children aged 0-13 : NO overdue charges.
    For children aged 14+ : £0.05 for each day the issuing library is open. 
    These charges are capped at a maximum of £1.50 per item.  
  • eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eComics
    NO overdue charges
    eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and eComics will be deleted from your account after the loan period is complete.
    You can renew eBooks and eAudiobooks to extend the loan period and will be sent a reminder to do so.

Please note:

  • Physical items can only be renewed up to 4 times on the phone or online. They cannot be renewed if you owe more than £10 or if an item is reserved for another customer.
  • Children aged 0-13 will receive no overdue charges, provided items are borrowed on the child's own card
  • Overdue charges are charged on a daily basis ie, library opening days (not weekly) until the maximum charge is reached.
  • If an item becomes overdue and you are receiving notices by post, there will only be one final notice, for which you will receive an additional charge of £1.
    To avoid this charge, either set your account to receive notices by email, or return your books on time.
    Receiving notices by email means you will also receive "pre-overdue" notices - advance warning that your books need returning and one additional email overdue notice, before receiving a final notice by post. Contact us to be set up with email notices

  • Out of print fiction and non-fiction (hardback and paperback) £15
  • Out of print Indic adult fiction & non-fiction £15 per book
  • Damaged books (including lost/damaged book jackets): Full replacement cost
  • Damaged or lost audiobook CDs: Full replacement cost

Meeting rooms

There are rooms for hire at Britwell, Cippenham, Langley and The Curve. Hire charges and facilities vary.
