Our apprenticeships

The Slough Academy - coming soon!

Apprenticeships have changed! And we intend to take full advantage of the opportunities this presents by building a fresh approach to our apprenticeship programmes.

Later this year, 2018, we will launch The Slough Academy to support its intention to “grow our own talent through continuous professional development opportunities.” We want to bring new talent into the council, as well as invest in the ambition of existing staff by apprenticeship opportunities.

The range of occupational training programmes we will offer both new and existing staff has increased enormously, way beyond our traditional business administration programme. Talent of any age can apply to earn while you learn on our apprenticeship training programmes, some of which will take you to degree level or post graduate qualification in key professions. So whether you are starting out in your career, or want to further your skills and experience, there is something for everyone.

All apprenticeships come with a paid job with a competitive salary and access to all the same benefits as other council colleagues while you are training. You will gain valuable hands-on experience with expert guidance and tuition as you progress through your fully funded training programme. We will also allocate 20 per cent of your paid working time to training away from the workplace so you can consolidate your learning and prepare for any assessments.

Leading up to the launch of The Slough Academy, adult social care will be trailblazing our new apprenticeship approach. We want to attract committed people of any age at any level of experience who might be considering social care as a career. Undertake an apprenticeship with us to experience first hand how fulfilling this profession could be for you.

As the academy grows so will the opportunities to join us, and build rewarding careers across a range of professions such as:

  • planning
  • housing
  • finance
  • education and childcare
  • transport
  • youth work and leisure.

Watch this space for the first opportunity to apply for one of our trailblazing apprenticeships in adult social care!

Information on opportunities in other professions will be available very soon.
